LIBERTY Dental Plan Establishes a Dedicated Toll-Free Number for the State of Emergency for the Line Fire in San Bernardino County, Issued on September 7, 2024

On September 7, 2024, Governor Newsom issued a State of Emergency Proclamation for the Line Fire in San Bernardino County, which has since burned over 7,000 acres. The Line Fire has prompted evacuation orders and road closures, and continues to threaten structures, homes, critical infrastructure, endangered species, watersheds, and cultural and heritage resources. The continued high temperatures throughout the day and night, dry conditions, and strong winds have increased the intensity and spread of the Line Fire, causing imminent threat to life, with an Excessive Heat Warning in effect in San Bernardino County. In response to a request from the Office of Emergency Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant to assist with the mitigation, management, and control of the Line Fire. Under the provisions of Government Code section 8558(b), Governor Newsom finds that conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property exist due to the Line Fire in San Bernardino County.

LIBERTY has not, as of this date, experienced any disruption to plan operations. Our corporate office and operations center are in Tustin, Calif., and have not been impacted by the Line Fire in San Bernardino County. Additionally, we do not anticipate any disruption to our operations and will be available to members, including after hours and on the weekend. We are communicating our availability to potentially impacted enrollees through this press release, our website, and social media.

This policy applies in the event of any state of emergency declared by the governor and health emergencies declared by the State Public Health Officer. LIBERTY will comply with guidance issued by the Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) related to the emergency.
